What Is Love?
February, the month when love is celebrated, is the perfect time to reflect on its true meaning. So, let’s talk about love.
We’ve all heard incredible stories—parents risking their lives to save their children, strangers running into burning buildings to rescue others, or people scaling buildings with bare hands to prevent a child from falling. These stories move us deeply. But what truly drives someone to act with such selflessness?
The answer is simple: love.
Despite the danger, these individuals didn’t think of themselves first. Instead, they placed the lives of others above their own. Such acts of love remind us of something profound—that love is not just a word or a fleeting emotion, but a powerful force that compels action.
Where Has Love Gone?
In today’s world, love seems to be scarce.
Whenever we witness true love in action, we are amazed. But why is that? We were meant for love all along. Yet, over time, our hearts have become filled with other things—hurt, resentment, jealousy, hatred, worry, and fear. Love, once at the center of our being, has been pushed aside.
We are constantly sowing seeds in our hearts, but are they the right ones? If we plant seeds of love, we will reap love—not just for ourselves, but for others. However, love must first exist within us before we can give it away. No one can pour from an empty cup.
Rediscovering Love
So, how do we fill ourselves with love again? Is love still within us? Why does it feel so distant?
The truth is, love is still there, buried under layers of pain and negativity. It is not lost—it is merely stifled. To rediscover it, we must remove the things that block it.
Love is not just an emotion, as often portrayed in movies or advertisements. It is not about heart-shaped balloons or romantic gestures alone. Love is deeper. It is an intentional state of the heart, one that leads to courage, selflessness, and sometimes, even heroic acts.
What If We All Chose Love?
Imagine a world where love was the foundation of everything. A world where people genuinely cared for one another, without fear or hatred. Where kindness was instinctive, and compassion was abundant.
Such a world is possible, but it starts with each of us. We must make a conscious decision to love—to let go of resentment, to forgive ourselves and others, and to stop nurturing thoughts that block love from flowing freely.
Love is freeing. Love is healing. Love is powerful. And when we embrace it, we notonly transform our own lives but also the world around us.
This Valentine’s Day, I hope you not only celebrate love but also cultivate it within yourself. Because when you do, love will naturally flow to those around you.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Warm regards,
-Isabelle
